Key Takeaways:

We are currently working on the key takeaways for this article. They will be available soon.

The prevalence of seizure disorders in the regular population is around 1%. However, based on Dr. Kairam’s experience working with children on the spectrum he is inclined to believe the incidence of seizures in children with Autism is around 3% only.

There has not been a large enough study to draw parallels between high incidences of seizures in children with Autism specifically to draw firm conclusions. Until more research into this field is conducted, it is safe to believe that seizures can occur in children with a variety of developmental abnormalities and need not necessarily reflect a link to Autism. But, please bear in mind that Epilepsy in most children with Autism can resolve with age.
